There are a few critical components to any Openstack deployment that can be considered show stoppers if they go wrong. Perhaps the most important of these is the messaging system. When Bluehost set out to run a large deployment of Openstack we initially evaluated RabbitMQ and Qpid. We chose Qpid and have had numerous problems with reliability, resiliency and speed.
I would like to talk about our transition from Qpid to 0mq in our production environment, the lessons learned along the way, and why brokerless Openstack is the way of the future.
