Creating a Culture of Contribution

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In this presentation, I'll talk about building a culture of contribution within your organization. I'll cover important aspects, such as:

  • the business case for contributing to OpenStack (or other open source applications) getting the Legal team to agree to the contributors license agreement
  • engagement and communication with the greater community
  • getting your patches "good enough" for the world to see
  • encouraging team members to be community leaders

Along the way, I'll share my experiences with helping Bluehost build the world's largest OpenStack installation, along with experieces at various other employers, and how I've helped them create communities of contribution. I'll also discuss the perspective of communities and community leaders (from my experience as the Fedora Project Leader).
