In striving to meet the demands of the modern creative professional we were increasingly in the position of having to continually change our infrastructure to meet the needs of differing television and film workflows. OpenStack allows us to maintain a highly fluid environment, allocating compute, storage and streaming resources with immediacy and simplicity. In the last year we have deployed our software offering, Critique, using a hybrid OpenStack solution. Critique allows for real time creative collaboration on streaming video. Producers, directors and writers can meet at a video and in real time comment in many ways on that video. For the first time we are seeing an unprecedented efficiency in the approval process. Due to the diversity of clients we serve, from major motion picture studios to independent producers, we were in desperate need of an agile solution that would serve all clients with a limited management footprint. There is no question that the cloud and OpenStack are providing a hereto unforeseen level of creativity and productivity in the entertainment industry. In moving forward with an open source solution we can guarantee that all content producers can share a wealth of ideas without the concern of proprietary data disappearing with the ebb and flow of technology.
